Days 8-17: Abandon Hope, Yea Who Enter Here

I am alive, friends!

The plague had descended upon our house, and we were laid low. A round of steroids and antibiotics later, and I'm finally feeling normal.

AND, I stayed keto the whole time!

It's been 2.5 weeks and the health changes have been pretty profound---no headaches/migraines, no severe muscle cramps, muscle twitches are decreased in frequency and intensity, sleep and energy is better, and, as an added benefit, I've dropped a little bit of weight! Joints still sublux, but they aren't as sore after popping back in, so that's cool.

More recipes have been in the mix, including some savory things in addition to desserts, which are my usual jam.

Day 6 & 7: What is a "weekend"?

I made it! A whole week! Whaaaaaaat.

Day 6 recap: Started the day with keto crepes. It was the right choice.

BIGGEST challenge this far: a meal out and about. At a wedding, no less. At what was most likely the wedding of the century at that (Sorry, not sorry Priyanka). Blessed are the cheese and meat trays, and chicken on a stick.

And, my mother will never let me live this down, I drank La Croix of my own volition.

There was a minor transgression, for the Forbidden Fruit in the Garden of Eden was not an apple but indeed a Buckeye. Tempting delicious peanut butter bastard. But I only ate one and considering the 18' long cookie table that should be nominated as one of the Modern Wonders of the World. And a coconut macaroon.

Day 7: Because I do not have a personal assistant to send into the world and must therefore go out amongst the people with a compromised immune system, I have a hell of a cold and barely a voice.

Soup it is. Meal prepped a bit for the week and hung out with puppers. Still waiting for the metallic taste in my mouth tho...

Day 5: Snow Me A Good Time

Have a new recipe cooling right now. It is the first one, so I know I'll have some tweaking to do. Pray to the baking gods, dear friends, bc that means you get delicious recipes sooner.

Today was pretty great. Down a pound+, staying hydrated, energy levels are good!

We got around 2" of snow, so today was the first really intense physical activity I undertook--shoveling and salting our 75' long driveway which is a deceptively gross hill. Refusing to abandon my snow day fashion, the alpaca onesie was my uniform. A bit of chest tightness but no wheezing, nose DEFINITELY ran much less than usual, and my driveway is clean.

I'm now 5 days in, and starting to notice some changes. Not as hungry as I was, blood sugar is much more level, and I'm sleeping better. No headache either!

It has occurred to me that my baseline is so shitty that I could be going thru the keto flu but don't notice. Not a great thought, but maybe that means there is nowhere to go but up??

Here's hoping.
